12 months (baby's first birthday edition)

12 months...seriously? Throughout the past year I'll admit it, I've had my moments when I thought time was standing still, and the thought "will this day ever end?" definitely entered my mind on more than one occasion. But now here I am sitting here trying to figure out how my babies transformed from this...
to this...

RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES!

Here are their 12 month milestones:
-sitting forward in the car
-clapping hands (love this one!)
-E will take a step here or there, but for the most part no walking yet
-finally on whole milk and sippy cups full time (and ry and i are on a first name basis with the wal-mart cashiers, we make so many milk runs that i am seriously considering purchasing a cow. i'm sure our home owner's association wouldn't mind...)
-I think each girl has 5 or six teeth (everytime I check I feel another one coming through)
We wanted to celebrate the big day by having a bash with all our friends. It was more of a "we actually survived and everyone is alive to tell about it" celebration than a first birthday party, but it's all the same, right? So we headed to the park for hamburgers, hot dogs, and loads of cake!

It was ridiculously windy, but still a good time. The best part for Elsie and Ava was swinging together. You can't tell from the picture, but they laughed and laughed and absolutely loved swinging... When we got home, they got to break in these beauties. Aren't they the cutest biker babes? My crafty friend Wendy took the cute cupcake invitations - made by Grandma when we were in Idaho (thanks Robyn, that cricut is amazing) - and made these adorable cupcake shirts with matching bows. We have gotten so many compliments on those bows, people stop me in the store wanting to know where I got them...
All in all it has been a great year and I have found myself thinking the words to the second verse of Happy Birthday that all Andersons know "Many more birthdays to you, many more birthday to you!" We made it!
