I took the girls in for their 15th month checkup a few weeks ago, and even though they're a little small for their age they are each growing a ton & staying on their same curve (Elsie: 31"/70th%, 20.1lbs./10th% Ava: 31 1/4"/75th%, 21.6lbs/30th%). They are babbling a little bit, throwing tantrums like you wouldn't believe, and still as stubborn as ever when it comes to walking. They climb all over the couch, cruise around everything, stand on their own every once in a while, walk while holding onto toys, but they absolutely refuse to walk independently. I think they're just such fast crawlers that they don't want to slow down and learn to walk.
Elsie's hair is a little curlier in the back then Ava's hair is. E has always had more hair than A....
Well, they might be crawling until they're 16 but one thing they won't be doing is sucking on their pacifiers. I really thought we would need some sort of 12 step program, patch, gum, or some other miracle of modern science to quit but I just pulled the plug cold turkey and that was that. We're about 2 weeks sober now, and I think the girls still miss their pacis sometimes (okay...maybe I miss them just a little bit too, especially at church and naptimes)...
A, E
Kaydree's milestones are getting fewer and further between now that she's older, but every once in a while and I find a reason to step back and think "wow, she's growing up!" She had her first dentist appointment earlier this summer and she really liked it. It was cute, she asked me on the way there if Uncle Spencer would be cleaning her teeth (ry's brother who's still in dental school). The dentist was definitely no Uncle Spencer, but still pretty cool. They let the K wear sunglasses so the light isn't so bright, they let her push the buttons to move up and down in the chair, and she loved picking out her own flavor of toothpaste and of course a prize at the end. What kind of dorky mom takes a picture of her kid at the dentist?...
I don't have much of an update on Carver because the kid refuses to sit still long enough for a picture. So how about this for an update: at least once every single day he announces to everyone that he's WOODY, and he runs in his room and puts on his dress-up cowboy hat, cowboy shirt, and Kaydree's knee high boots (we gotta get that kid some cowboy boots...) and he runs all around the house yelling "Yeehaw towboy (cowboy), yeehaw!" He also stands on top of the couch with his fists in the air and yells "To infinity and beyond!" and then jumps off the couch making a flying noise. Yep, same old Carver.
And just to make this post even longer, I have to chronicle our recent trip to the zoo. We decided to go to dollar day at the Dallas Zoo...BIG MISTAKE. It was so hot and crowded, and I have seriously never been stepped on, elbowed, bumped into, and breathed on so much in my entire life! Apparently, personal hygiene was prohibited. Look at our kids, they were so HOT, SWEATY, and MISERABLE...
We really couldn't see any of the animals because of all the pushing and shoving. I think all the kids were wondering when we were actually getting to the zoo part...it probably just felt like a long sweaty walk to them. Oh yeah, and did I mention that we were totally the minority there? Let's just say it was one of those times that the spanish language would've come in really handy. And to top it all off, I got a speeding ticket that day too. In short, dollar day at the Dallas Zoo actually ended up costing me around 115 bucks. So I guess this is really more of a warning than an update: if you're thinking of saving some cash and going to the zoo on a cheap day DON'T DO IT! You can thank me later.
We went straight from the car to the bath (because let's be honest, who knows what kind of communicable diseases we might have caught). You thought 3 was a crowd, here's rub-a-dub dub 4 babies in a tub...

great job with the blog update...you are very brave....4 kids...wow, glad you made it thru the zoo experience...
You are brave for taking away their pacifiers. I don't have the sanity to take Lacees away just yet, its the only thing that keeps her quiet...
Next time just put all your kids in the tub together instead of taking them to the zoo, they looked like they had a lot more fun in the tub!
I thought Lacee was never going to walk, then one day she just decided she was done with crawling and now she walks all the time.
I quite enjoyed this post (:
Cute update... the girls are getting so big. How fun!!! Hopefully Spencer can clean her teeth one day...
