a belated halloween post

Just another belated blogpost from yours truly.  I felt a bit guilty for sort of ignoring Halloween last year in place of going to Prague (be honest - going to Prague is cooler than trick or treating), so this year I made a little more effort.  A little, not a lot.
A few weekends before the big day, we headed over to Antwerp, Belgium (about an hour from here) and took the kids to see a movie.  I can't even remember which movie it was now, but it was the only place they were showing it in English.  Luckily, I like going to Antwerp because they have more American stores than they do here (forever 21, disney store, etc).  We popped into this fancy chocolate shop, which ended up getting us into the spirit of the season.  They had so many spooky made-of-chocolate things...
We painted pumpkins this year, and Ry carved a "jack the pumpkin king" jack-o-lantern (not pictured) which promptly got moldy and smelly and gross…
We also had a spooky movie night with some friends, and we made oreo truffle spiders and eyeballs...
I helped at Carver's school party.  I would say he had the most original costume (which is obviously a bull-fighter - NOT to be confused with a pirate) which was his original idea after he saw the girls's dresses.  It was inspired by the story "Ferdinand"...a family favorite indeed.
Here are a few kids from his class awaiting the Halloween parade.  There are few things that are more entertaining than watching a bunch of confused kindergartners marching around in costumes trying to figure out what they are doing and why, not to mention WHERE they are suppose to be going.  Also, his class had no less than 4 spidermen.
Here are some fun Halloween shirts from Grandma...
Finally, for the big night we headed over to a nearby neighborhood that actually arranges trick-or-treating.
