Happy Birthday Dear Kaydree!

A few weeks ago we celebrated Kaydree's 3rd birthday...I can't believe she's 3! It's just like your mom says "they grow up way too fast," it really does feel like we just brought her home from the hospital and now she's 3 going on 13!

We had a really fun 'Garden Party' planned, all centered around Kaydree's idea to have ladybug cupcakes (or pupcakes as she calls them). So here are the highlights:
-we decorated little terra cotta pots and planted seeds in them
-we played a flower bean bag toss and pin the leaf on the flower
-we made and ate dirt cups (crushed oreos, chocolate pudding, and gummy worms)...no matter how much we explained it, some kids refused to eat them because their moms said they shouldn't eat dirt
-we ate the cutest ladybug pupcakes you have ever seen (painstakingly decorated the night before by yours truly)

-we beat on a pinata (and 17 kids later, the adults still had to bust it open)
After all that planning, we still had WAY too much time left over (of course). So we just let the kids run wild for a bit. Carver never ran out of things to do!

And what 3 year old birthday party would be complete without the guest of honor doing a little crying?
But I'm not gonna lie, it was worth it when Kaydree opened her gifts. I have some really talented friends (not to mention some really generous parents and in-laws) and they really pulled out all the stops this year with the presents. Lots of my friends made things that were super cute (a tutu, embellised jean jacket, gardening apron, and the cutest little outfit you see below).

Rachel takes the cake, as usual, with her sewing and embroidery skills. Ryan and I decided to spring for a new kitchen and table and chairs, which we got a steal on courtesy of Craig's list.
Ryan's sister Merilee was in town and was a HUGE help at the party and afterwards. She also has an awesome camera, so we took Kaydree out to the botanic gardens one day for a photoshoot...

Happy Birthday Kaydree!!

Happy Birthday, Kaydree!!! Wasn't it last month when our little girls were still learning to crawl and we were doing baby-sitting swap? Now our babies are 3. Can't believe it. Looks like you had a GREAT party! Kaydree is so adorable.
