There's NO business like SHOW business

One of the best parts about living near my younger sister Caitlin is going to all of her free shows and concerts. As cheesy as it may seem, we love a good musical - even Ryan. There's something about ordinary people spontaneously bursting into song and dance that is just plain entertaining. We especially love the high school variety - combine the song and dance bit with awkward and inexperienced teenagers and somehow it is even more entertaining...it's like every show is a comedy, we love it! Plus, who doesn't love the idea of having the same song stuck in your head for at least 2 weeks following the show?

So, for her most recent conquest, Caitlin played Winnie in Annie Get Your Gun. I had never seen this one before, and I was surprised by how many familiar songs I heard. The lead guy was really good, and the lead girl ended up being a teacher because one of the students failed a class at the last moment. So you can imagine teacher and student awkwardly pushing through the romance scenes. And Caitlin had a romance scene of her own. I thought she did a good job but hey, it's my little sister, so I'll admit when her romantic interest went in for the kiss I was totally supressing the huge laugh I wanted to let out. But my 2 dates Ryan and Bryan were cringing the whole way through. I've never heard Bryan be so protective before, I was actually worried for the guy after the show. Anyway, Caitin did a great job. And just to prove it to you, I took one for the team and bootlegged some video for the out-of-staters. Of course all video and flash photography was strictly prohibited, something about buying the rights to the musical and copyright enfringement bla bla bla. Needless to say, I had to be sneaky so don't mind the huge head in the lower corner of the screen and the poor quality. I could technically be prosecuted for this, so just appreciate it...

Next we took a road trip down to San Antonio to see Caitlin in the Texas All-State Choir. 14,000 students auditioned from all over the state and less than 800 students made it. This was a huge accomplishment for Cailtin and we were glad to be there the hear her sing and to visit San Antonio...A huge THANKS to Rachel & Jared for watching the kids during the concert. And to Caitlin, let us know when the next show is - we'll be there!
