Luck of the Irish

Last weekend we hit up the Fort Worth Stockyards for their annual St. Patty's Day Parade. We weren't really sure if there would be much for the kids, but it turned out to be a fun day. The weather was perfect and we found free parking on the street (already 2 components for a good day at the stockyards). They had a petting zoo, pony rides, balloon animals, and lots of other activities for the kids...

I think they liked walking around and people-watching the most. There were lots of green haired horses and "colorful" people to look at too. People were coming up to a little old lady wanting to take pictures with her miniature horses, but she came up to us wanting to take a picture with "the twins" it was pretty funny... This horse was trying to eat K's hair...Kaydree was totally fascinated by the man walking on stilts. She just stared and stared at him and finally asked how he got so tall. I told her that he probably just has really tall parents. But Ryan ruined my fun when he explained the whole stilts thing to her (personally I think the whole "auditor" thing is getting to his head, I mean is it really necessary to expose ALL forms of fraud? Next he'll be explaining about Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny - sheesh!).

Finally, we watched the parade. It was mostly longhorns and horses, but there were a few people dressed up too. Some ladies (or as Ryan called them "The Real Housewives of Fort Worth") got really into it...

After the kids and I shared some good ole Blue Bell ice cream, and Ryan downed his bottle of Dublin Dr. Pepper, we decided we might just have to make this a yearly tradition. Happy St. Patrick's Day!
